President of the United States (U.S.), Barack Obama will make a state visit to Indonesia on 9 and 10 November 2010, after some time and then plan a visit some time off.
"This visit is part of President Obama's visit to Asia and done after a visit to India and before the visit to South Korea and Japan," said the Special Staff of the President of the International Relations Teuku Faizasyah in its written statement received by AFP in Hanoi on Saturday.
The visit, he added, intended to expand and strengthen bilateral relations.
Obama plans visit to Indonesia has been presented publicly by President Obama in his speech before the UN General Assembly in New York September 2010.
President Obama's agenda on November 9, 2010 will begin with a welcome ceremony at Merdeka Palace, which will be followed by bilateral meetings between the Government of Indonesia with the U.S. Government.
Is the momentum of bilateral meetings to exchange ideas on various issues of bilateral, regional and global. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will host U.S. President and the delegates in a state dinner.
On 10 November 2010, President Obama will do the laying of a wreath at the Heroes Cemetery Kalibata. Furthermore, President Obama plans to visit the Istiqlal Mosque.
"President Obama also plans to give a speech to the Indonesian public, which will be delivered the Indonesia-United States partnership, democracy, development, pluralism and tolerance as well as outreach to the Muslim countries," he said.
RI-US relations, said Faiza, in nearly half of this decade showed a significant direction of reinforcement, characterized among others by U.S. recognition of democratization that has been running very well in Indonesia, the reform process, pluralism and respect for pluralism, and the success of Indonesia in combating terrorism.
The close relationship between the two countries also indicated the high intensity of the meeting of government officials, parliamentarians and private sectors of both countries.
President Obama has twice been a bilateral meeting with President Yudhoyono, which is on the sidelines of the 17th APEC Summit in Singapore November 2009 and on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Toronto April 2010.
At the time of the visit of President Obama, President Yudhoyono and the Indonesian President Obama will launch a Comprehensive Partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.
Comprehensive Indonesian-US Partnership CP was first submitted by the President in Washington in November 2008.
"Indonesia-US comprehensive partnership is an important step to strengthen and enhance bilateral relations and cooperation with Indonesia and the U.S. in various fields. Currently, the two sides was finalizing a comprehensive action plan of the partnership," he said.
Trade and investment is one of the important issues of concern in President Obama's visit to Indonesia.
In 2006-2008 the volume of Indonesia-US bilateral trade continues to increase, from 15.3 billion dollars (2006) to 16.4 billion U.S. dollars (2007) and further 20.9 billion dollars (2008).
In 2009 the volume of trade between the two countries amounted to 17.93 billion U.S. dollars. The decline that reached nearly 3 billion U.S. dollars was caused partly because of the worsening world economy in general and U.S. in particular.
For the year 2010, in the period from January to July 2010, the value of trade between Indonesia and the United States reached 13.36 billion U.S. dollars, up 38 percent compared to same period in 2009 which amounted to 9.67 billion U.S. dollars.
Actual U.S. investment in Indonesia tends to increase from the year 2007-2009. In 2009 the realization of U.S. investment of U.S. $ 171.5 million, in 2008 amounted to U.S. $ 151.3 million and in 2007 amounted to 144.7 million U.S. dollars.
In the first quarter of 2010, the U.S. ranked 3rd in the realization of FDI on the basis of statements of investment activities by the home country, after Singapore and Mauritius.
More than 50 percent of U.S. investment is concentrated in the oil and gas sector, and the rest scattered in other sectors.
